Founded in 1970 in St. Joseph, Missouri, Missouri Western Griffons football brings high energy to Craig Field at Spratt Memorial Stadium. The on-campus venue, home to Kansas City Chiefs training camp each summer, sets a professional standard while keeping fans close to the action, from the grassy hillside to packed bleachers. Saturday crowds arrive early, and the black and gold buzz builds well before kickoff.

On the field, the NCAA Division II Griffons boast MIAA championships in 2003 (shared) and 2012 (outright), plus memorable Mineral Water Bowl wins in 1975 and 2009. Alumni like NFL standouts Greg Zuerlein and Jonathan Owens spotlight the program's reach. Every year brings the Battle of Highway 71 with Northwest Missouri State, a can't-miss rivalry. Expect spirited tailgating, a loud student section, and a welcoming game-day culture that turns close contests into lasting memories.
