Born in 1969 in Kansas City, Missouri, the Kansas City Roos men’s basketball program blends big-city energy with an underdog edge. The Roos’ history features a 1977 NAIA national tournament berth and the landmark 20-win 1991-92 Division I season, led by future NBA first-rounder Tony Dumas. Program great Michael Watson’s record-breaking scoring further cemented KC hoops lore. Annual Summit League showdowns with Oral Roberts and South Dakota State crank up the intensity, especially at their historic home, Municipal Auditorium, where sightlines are pristine and acoustics make the student section feel twice as loud. Expect a lively, neighborly crowd that turns downtown into game-night central as a new era takes shape under Mark Turgeon. Buy tickets from Vivid Seats to experience it live!
