Since 1946 in Lake Charles, the McNeese State Cowboys men's basketball program has built a proud Southland tradition. The Cowboys have stacked multiple conference titles and, in 2025, notched the program's first NCAA tournament victory with a 69-67 upset of Clemson. Hall of Famer Joe Dumars launched his legend here, and his name now graces Joe Dumars Court, a daily reminder of the program's ambition.

Home games crackle inside the 4,242-seat Townsley Law Arena, opened in 2018, where blue and gold faithful and a spirited student section turn "Geaux Pokes" into a wall of sound.
