Born in 1892 in Ames, Iowa, Iowa State Cyclones football blends Midwestern grit with modern ambition. The Cyclones have celebrated conference crowns from their early Missouri Valley days and memorable bowl victories, including the 2000 Insight.com Bowl, the 2017 Liberty Bowl, and the 2021 Fiesta Bowl. Fans still smile about Troy Davis’s back-to-back 2,000-yard seasons and the climb to the 2020 Big 12 Championship Game under coach Matt Campbell.

Game days at Jack Trice Stadium feel singular: the only FBS venue named for a Black athlete, it roars with the Cyclone Power chant, a cardinal and gold student section, and tailgates that start early and linger under the lights. The annual Cy-Hawk showdown with Iowa and the always-tense Farmageddon date with Kansas State keep September and November circled, while recent stars like Brock Purdy and Breece Hall have given Ames fresh swagger and staying power.
