Founded in 1923 in Nacogdoches, Texas, the Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks bring Piney Woods pride to Homer Bryce Stadium. Their accomplishments include the 1973 Poultry Bowl victory, a thrilling 1989 run to the Division I-AA national championship game, and multiple Southland Conference titles that keep SFA in the FCS conversation. Alumni such as Pro Bowl linebacker Jeremiah Trotter and record-setting fullback Larry Centers set the program’s standard for toughness and flair.

Game day is uniquely SFA. Tailgating energizes Lumberjack Alley, the band kicks into gear, and the student section leads the Axe ’Em, Jacks chant as fans pack the 14,575-seat bowl with its grassy berms. Add historic showdowns with Sam Houston in the Battle of the Piney Woods and you get a lively, welcoming atmosphere that invites every fan to make a lasting memory.
