Born in 2025 in Edinburg, Texas, UT Rio Grande Valley Vaqueros football brings Division I FCS action to the Southland Conference. The Vaqueros call Robert & Janet Vackar Stadium home, while the Valley gets a second showcase each season with a home game in Brownsville at Sams Memorial Stadium. From day one the program set an ambitious standard.

A 66-0 inaugural win over Sul Ross State set the tone, and head coach Travis Bush guided a 9-3 first season capped by a 7-0 home mark. The Vaqueros ranked 11th nationally in FCS attendance, with sellout nights fueling signature moments like a Homecoming victory over defending Southland champ Incarnate Word. Rising standouts Jaiden Haygood and Nick Hughes earned Freshman All-America recognition. Game days feel uniquely Valley: V's Up everywhere, early tailgates, a roaring student section, Whiteout themes, and a community that turns every kickoff into a celebration.
