For the first time in 26 years the Milwaukee baseball nation can celebrate as their Brewers clinched their wild card berth this past Sunday in a 3-1 victory over the Chicago Cubs. Carrying the load? C.C. Sabathia. The man who has been the workhorse for the Brewers as of late was more than willing (and definitely more than capable) of carrying Milwaukee into the postseason. Perhaps it was his most impressive Brewers performance ever, and that’s saying a lot considering the recent outings he’s had (i.e. the disputable no hitter). Starting for the 3rd consecutive time after only three days rest, Sabathia pitched a full game, with 122 pitches, 7 strikeouts, and allowed only 1 unearned run on 4 hits. With the help of a 2-run shot by Ryan Braun in the 8th, the Brewers did their part to make it to the playoffs. They only had to wait another 30 minutes to watch as the Mets lost to Florida, thereby securing the Brewers’ wild card berth. When the first series starts on October 1, Sabathia will probably not take the mound. He will, however, definitely be utilized at some point in the series, most likely as soon as he’s ready. The Tour Championship Presented by Coca Cola is well underway and the battle for first place and the FedEx Cup has heated to its boiling point. While the Tour Championship used to be the final event of the PGA season, it was moved back into its current September slot last year, and is now the culminating event in the chase for the FedEx Cup. The golfer with the highest points total (and not necessarily the winner of The Tour Championship event itself) is awarded the FedEx Cup. As it is playing out now, Anthony Kim is currently the leader (-8) closely followed by Sergio Garcia (-5) and Phil Mickelson (-3). And though it is Vijay Singh who is on top of the overall FedEx leaderboard, Garcia has a solid chance of stealing the FedEx Cup away from him if he finishes well enough ahead of Singh. The action is really starting to heat up and you can still catch it live with The Tour Championship tickets being offered right here at Vividseats.com!

As the month of September winds down, the MLB begins its shift into 5th gear. The beginning of October marks the end of the regular season and the beginning of the postseason. Six months of baseball with 30 teams playing 162 games apiece finally boils down into 8 teams and 7 series. And while some teams are already safe and secure with their playoff berths (i.e. Chicago Cubs, Tampa Bay Rays, L.A. Angels) and others are clearly not headed into the postseason (Pittsburgh Pirates, Kansas City Royals), there are still some teams on the cusp of postseason eligibility. In the American League no matchup is more highly anticipated than the direct confrontation between the A.L. Central Division-leading White Sox and the second place Minnesota Twins. The three-game series will have a distinct effect on the playoff hopes of either team. The Twins (only 2.5 games behind) can assume first place with a complete sweep and be in the driver seat for the remaining three games of their schedule (games against division worst Kansas City Royals). The Sox, on the other hand, can effectively eliminate the Twins if they win 2 of the 3 games. Tonight, the crucial series between the two teams begins. The game starts at 7:10 CDT and Javier Vasquez of the Sox will take the mound against Scott Baker of the Twins. Playoff chances are in the balance for both teams. You, however, can be playoff-bound if you check out our baseball playoff tickets that are now on sale!

The WWE is coming at you hard in the month of October and is definitely not going to submit. The WWE’s annual NO MERCY pay-per-view event returns with some of the most exciting wrestling matches ever. A total of 4 championship matches will take place including the WWE Championship match, World Heavyweight Championship match (a ladder match no less!), the ECW Championship match ("E" as in EXTREME so you know) and the Women’s Championship match. The WWE has certainly outdone itself once more and talk circulates heavily around the WWE Championship match between Triple H and Jeff Hardy. A lot of people speculate that Jeff Hardy cannot hang with "The King of all Kings" in a one-on-one match, but Hardy seems to be confident in his own abilities. One thing is for sure, however. People want to see a good clean wrestling match. Hopefully, for the fans’ sake, the referee will not be distracted by another wrestler’s manager just long enough for a masked assailant to rush into the ring, hit one of the contestants with a steel chair (quiet enough for the referee to not hear but hard enough to render the wrestler temporarily unconscious), then roll out of the ring completely unnoticed just as the referee turns around to notice that the steel chair still in the ring and one man’s face is badly bleeding, but still put down the three-count to give the non-concussed wrestler the victory. Check out our great deals on WWE tickets right now!
