Home to the Cleveland Indians, Progressive Field is a ballpark located in downtown Cleveland, Ohio. It is a part of the Gateway Sports and Entertainment Complex. It was earlier named as Jacobs Field but was changed to Progressive Field in 2008. After the start of construction in 1992, the stadium was opened on April 4th, 1994. It has a seating capacity of 43,345.

It took 25 months and $175 million to erect this beautiful structure. President Bill Clinton threw the first pitch during the first Indians game on April 4th, 1994. Progressive Field has hosted the 1995 and 1997 World Series and the 1997 MLB All-Star Game.

In a 2008 Sports Illustrated fan poll, Progressive Field was voted the best ballpark in the Major League Baseball. The stadium has the largest free-standing scoreboard in the US. The famous Bug Game was played on this stadium when a swarm of insects from Lake Erie enveloped the playing field.

Initially, the stadium was named after its builders, Jacobs brothers. On  January 11th, an insurance company Progressive Corporation purchased the naming rights of the stadium. Between the years 1995 and 2001, all 81 home games were sold out before the opening day. It hosts mainly Major League Baseball games but does hold other events from time to time.
