Bruce Springsteen Announces River Tour Dates for 2016
After a roughly year-long hiatus from the tour circuit, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band will at last be back on the road beginning in the early months of 2016. The second incarnation of his famed River Tour will hit North American arenas beginning Jan. 16 at the Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh and spanning until at least mid-March when they’ll close out the trek with a two-night stint at the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena. With most of the River Tour visiting cities in the Midwest and around the East Coast, it’s possible Bruce and Co. will add more shows later in the year as well. Other notable stops along the way include Chicago (Jan. 19), New York (Jan. 24, 27), Newark (Jan. 31), Milwaukee (March 3), and St. Louis (March 6).
The tour is of course named after the Boss’ 1980 double album, which according to his website, spawned the venture that ultimately solidified Springsteen’s status as one of the great live performers. In conjunction with the tour announcement, Springsteen released “The Ties That Bind: The River Collection,” which includes the 1980 double album “The River,” as well as a previously unreleased 10-track album from 1979, DVDs of never-before-seen footage and The River documentary, plus a CD of studio outtakes during recording of The River.
