Founded in 1971 in Allendale, Michigan, Grand Valley State Lakers football has grown into a Division II powerhouse. The Lakers have captured four NCAA national championships (2002, 2003, 2005, 2006) and a stack of GLIAC titles, turning fall Saturdays into a benchmark for excellence. Program-shaping leaders like Brian Kelly and Chuck Martin set the tone, while alumni such as defensive standout Matthew Judon carried that edge to the pros. The annual Anchor-Bone Classic with Ferris State fuels bragging rights across West Michigan.
