The Midlands Wrestling Championships, also known as the Ken Kraft Midlands, is one of college wrestling’s premier in-season tournaments. Founded in 1963 by Northwestern University coach Ken Kraft, it draws top Division I lineups, standout small-college talent, and unaffiliated athletes. Staged in the Chicago area each late December, the Midlands is a tradition-rich proving ground with national implications.
Fans typically converge on NOW Arena in Hoffman Estates, Illinois, a fan-friendly venue with bowl seating, clear sightlines, and plenty of energy around multiple mats.
