Founded in 1949 in Florence, Alabama, North Alabama Lions football pairs small-town pride with big-stage ambition. The Lions burst onto the national scene with three consecutive NCAA Division II national championships in 1993, 1994 and 1995, plus a haul of Gulf South Conference titles. Icons such as Harlon Hill and head coach Bobby Wallace helped spark a 41-1 stretch during that era, shaping a program known for toughness, speed and a flair for memorable postseason moments.

On Saturdays at Braly Municipal Stadium, the Pride of Dixie marching band, a loud student section and all-day tailgating create a welcoming, high-energy scene. Now competing in the FCS, UNA continues to chase titles while celebrating traditions like the Roar Lions chant and purple-and-gold crowd eruptions after big plays. Whether you are a lifelong fan or visiting Florence for the first time, the atmosphere invites you to make lasting memories.
