Founded in 1929 in San Francisco, the San Francisco State Gators men's basketball program has built a proud Division II legacy. The 1968-69 team shared the Far Western Conference crown with UC Davis, won the College Division Region 8 title and reached the national Elite Eight, and the 1983-84 squad returned to the Elite Eight after claiming the West Region. Standouts like Joe Callaghan and Girard Chatman left their mark, with a modern NCAA berth arriving again in 2017.
