SFU Goldcorp Centre for the Arts anchors the 149 W Hastings St block in downtown Vancouver, a contemporary hub for live performance connected to Simon Fraser University’s School for the Contemporary Arts. Audiences come for adventurous theatre, dance, concerts, comedy nights, film screenings, and artist talks. Versatile rooms and an experimental main theatre place performers close to the crowd, building an intimate charge.
Expect tuned acoustics, modern lighting rigs, comfortable seating, accessible entry and elevators, and easy transit via Waterfront and Stadium-Chinatown SkyTrain stations. For comedy, the raised stage, tight sightlines, and clear vocal mix help setups land and punchlines pop. Improv and sketch benefit from configurable staging, quick lighting cues, and a close, collaborative vibe that keeps laughter rolling.
Set in the cultural corridor between Gastown and Chinatown, the Centre is steps from cafes, bars, and galleries, ideal for a pre-show meet-up or post-show recap. Whether you are catching a premiere, a festival showcase, or a one-night-only set, this venue is built for vivid memories.
