Vermont’s Funniest Comedian is the hard-won title handed out each year at Burlington’s Vermont Comedy Club, where dozens of local comics battle through prelims, semifinals and a top-five finale. The showcase mixes sharp new voices and seasoned pros, and past champs include Tina Friml, whose 2018 win helped launch national spots such as “Just for Laughs,” and club cofounder Nathan Hartswick, crowned in 2022. The contest spotlights distinctly Vermont humor: smart, salty, and a little off-trail, along with razor-tight sets honed across the state. Finalists return in summer for a winners’ showcase, giving fans another chance to watch rising stars stick the landing on fresh material. Ready to cheer the next champion?
