PGA TOUR TICKETS

If golf fans weren’t already revved up for the 2013 PGA Tour season, then Tiger Woods' incredible victory at the Farmer’s Insurance Open last weekend certainly provided the necessary jump start. Woods opened his season by claiming his 75th career win on the course where he won the 2008 U.S. Open the majestic Torrey Pines. In his signature Sunday red, Woods shot 14-under with the next competitor four strokes behind. But what’s best about Tiger’s return to form is the timing. There’s still virtually an entire season of tournaments for he and the rest of the players on tour to show off what they’ve been working on during the offseason. Just in the month of February alone, five phenomenal tournaments will be teeing off place around the country, and we’ve got a little primer so you know what’s on the horizon.

The Waste Management Phoenix Open tees off today and Kyle Stanley is hoping to defend his title. Stanley earned his first PGA Tour victory by conquering an eight-stroke deficit to beat Ben Crane by one stroke, shooting a final-round 65. This year, temperatures should be ideal for great scoring with warm and sunny skies all weekend long. The event is set to feature 20 of the world’s top 50 players, including seven of the top 25. In that bunch, Phil Mickelson, who has won this event twice, is playing the Phoenix Open for his 23rd time. He’ll be joined by Rickie Fowler and Jason Dufner in the first two rounds. Defending Masters champ Bubba Watson will play with Nick Watney and Sony Open winner Russell Henley. Stanley is paired with Keegan Bradley and Martin Kaymer. The Northern Trust Open is where players can look forward to really putting every shot that they’ve practiced in the offseason to the test. The historic Riviera Country Club is the No. 3 rated course by the PGA Tour professionals and has long been heralded as an extraordinarily challenging course that forces players to use every club in their bag to contest against the course’s many hazards. Whether it’s the bunkers, gusty winds, the ubiquitous trees, or the varying elevations, there is always something in the way to force the golfers to take and often make plenty of incredible shots. There’s over six million in prize money at stake, and it all begins with a Pro-Am before the world’s best take over. Rory McIlroy claimed the victory and made his way to the #1 ranking in the Official World Golf Rankings, becoming only the 2nd youngest player ever to do so. He finished 12-under to secure a two-shot victory over Tiger Woods and Tom Gillis. But Woods almost stole his thunder by in his first Honda Classic as a pro, completing a career-best final round of 62 with a birdie-eagle finish.
