Dixie Chicks Tour 2016
The famed country trio Dixie Chicks will be back in a big way in 2016. The Texas-based bluegrass outfit will be heading out on its first major North American tour in a decade next summer. With a launch date of June 1, the Dixie Chicks MMXVI World tour is expected to visit more than 40 cities over the course of more than four months.
The upcoming North American tour dates will follow a spring European leg, which will run from April through May. Most of the recently announced Dixie Chicks tour will take place at outdoor amphitheaters across the U.S. and Canada, including a hometown concert at Dallas Gexa Energy Pavilion on Aug. 5.

Fans Hoping New Dixie Chicks Album Is in the Works
While news of the Dixie Chicks 2016 tour is certainly exciting for fans of the acclaimed country trio, diehard devotees are really hoping the new live venture will herald the arrival of a new full-length album. The Dixie Chicks last released original music in 2006, so it’s been almost a full decade without any new songs. The group’s last album, “Taking the Long Way,” was certified two-times Platinum and marked the band’s fourth consecutive No. 1 country hit in the U.S.
In the years since the most recent Dixie Chicks album, the band has remained active, even serving as an opening act for The Eagles on recent tour dates. Lead vocalist Natalie Maines also released a solo rock album titled “Mother” in 2013, while sisters Emily Robinson and Martie Maguire formed the side project Court Yard Hounds.
