Scarcity drives demand, as they say. And when performers announce their final tour, the opportunity for fans to see their favorite artists in person immediately gets an expiration date.
The result? A spike in ticket prices.
Vivid Seats analyzed ticket price data around four performers who recently announced the their next tour will be their last: Elton John, Paul Simon, Slayer and Lynyrd Skynyrd.
In each case, ticket prices immediately jumped up.
