Madonna Drops Six New Songs Ahead of 2015 Album Release

For the first time in almost three years, Madonna fans can now listen to new music from the original “Queen of Pop.” On Dec. 20, Madonna surprise released six songs from her forthcoming album, Rebel Heart, which is due out on March 10, 2015. Among the newly released tracks is the album’s lead single, “Living for Love.” Listen to the six new songs in full via the Spotify playlist at the bottom of this post.
The unexpected release of the six new Madonna songs was spurred on when unfinished Rebel Heart demos leaked on Dec. 17. In response to the hack, and to curb illegal downloads, Madonna made six final cuts off the new album available to fans on iTunes and Spotify with the message “Happy Early X-Mas!” The vocalist also confirmed that her forthcoming album—her 13th studio release and first full-length effort in three years—will feature more than a dozen additional tracks, bringing the total track listing to 19.
Madonna’s new album, which Time forecasts will be her best in a decade, will include additional production credits and guest appearances from major tastemakers from today’s music scene. Among those are Kanye West, a featured producer on “Illuminati,” Avicii and Blood Diamonds, co-producers on “Devil Pray,” and Diplo, a co-producer and co-writer on half of the recently released tracks. Nicki Minaj, who previously contributed to Madonna’s MDNA album, also co-wrote two songs and has a guest verse on one track.
A new Madonna tour for 2015 will likely be announced closer to Rebel Heart’s official release date, but as of Dec. 22, no dates have been confirmed. She was most recently on the road for 2012’s MDNA Tour, a combination stadium and arena trek that was the world’s highest-grossing tour that year. That venture also supported an album with a March release date, but it didn’t play in North America until late summer.
