Smashing Pumpkins 2016
Chicago alt-rock favorites the Smashing Pumpkins are getting ready for another live concert tour in spring 2016. The Billy Corgan-led band has announced just over 15 concerts for March and April, all of which will feature a combination acoustic-electro set. Fellow Chicago rock artist Liz Phair is scheduled to serve as opening act for all the concerts, which will include one hometown show at Chicago’s Civic Opera House on April 14.

New Smashing Pumpkins Album Expected to Follow 2016 Tour
The upcoming Smashing Pumpkins tour will likely focus on the band’s earlier material, much like last year’s concerts. The Smashing Pumpkins have confirmed that its members will return to the studio after the 2016 spring dates to record a new album, but those are the only details available at the time of the tour announcement.
It’s likely the new record will be the third installment in the Smashing Pumpkins’ “Teargarden by Kaleidyscope” album cycle. So far the cycle only includes 2012’s “Oceania” and 2014’s “Monuments to an Elegy.” The forthcoming album will also mark the 11th studio release of the band’s career.
