Summer Concerts 2014: Get a Double Dose of Star Power with Co-Headlining Tours

May 19, 2014 by Alyssa

CONCERT NEWS

It seems like 2014 has been the year for double-billed tour announcements, and with many of the big names in music sharing a stage this summer, you can pack in twice the entertainment at one show. Get your concert tickets for any of the tours below from Vivid Seats to witness these exciting collaborations on a stage near you.

Beyoncé and Jay Z | On the Run Tour
In one of the biggest concert announcements of the year, Beyoncé and Jay Z confirmed plans for a joint stadium tour on April 28. Though the husband and wife team regularly appears together on stage, the On the Run Tour marks the first time the couple will be seen on a full-fledged venture together. The “Drunk in Love” hit-makers will be on the road from June 25-Aug. 6.

Eminem and Rihanna | The Monster Tour
Following the multi-Platinum success of their latest joint single “The Monster,” Eminem and Rihanna also announced a co-headlining tour . Like Beyoncé and Jay Z, The Monster Tour also will stop in big stadiums around the U.S., but there are only three venues tabbed for the venture:  Rose Bowl Stadium (Aug. 7-8), MetLife Stadium (Aug. 16-17), and Comerica Park (Aug. 22-23). Individually, Eminem also has been booked for Lollapalooza (Aug. 1) and Squamish Valley Music Festival (Aug. 10), which have been conveniently scheduled around the tour, leaving a window open for potential guest appearances by Rihanna.

Rod Stewart and Santana | The Voice, The Guitar, The Songs
Two Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees—Rod Stewart and Santana—will be joining forces for the first time in 2014. Though the two acts have never played together before, both have focused heavily on blues-inspired music throughout their careers. In May, Stewart performed in Las Vegas, and Santana joined him on stage to play guitar on an excellent cover of “I’d Rather Go Blind.” The two launched the joint venture in May stateside, but will spend most of the summer performing overseas before returning to North America for shows throughout August.

Journey and Steve Miller Band
Another classic rock double bill, Journey and Steve Miller Band, also will be making its way to many venues around North America this summer. The two groups were instrumental in bringing the San Francisco sound to the radio with massive songs like “Don’t Stop Believin’” and “The Joker,” and they’ll be taking those hits to more than 35 cities through Aug. 1. Tower of Power, another Bay Area band, will serve as opening act.

Aerosmith and Slash | Let Rock Rule Tour
In July, Aerosmith and Slash will be hitting the road together for the North American leg of Aerosmith's international Let Rock Rule Tour. The legendary guitarist will be joining the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame outfit for more than 20 concerts this summer--including several at large amphitheaters around the U.S. and Canada--through early September.

Mötley Crüe and Alice Cooper | The Final Tour
The Mötley Crüe and Alice Cooper 2014 tour isn’t just a great way to see two of the biggest names in rock and metal perform on one stage: It’s also the last chance to see these artists perform together. Mötley Crüe has confirmed that the upcoming world tour will be the last time that Nikki Sixx, Tommy Lee, Vince Neil, and Mick Mars perform live together. The North American leg of the tour will run from July through at least November, while international dates will extend into 2015.

Linkin Park, 30 Second to Mars, and AFI | Carnivores Tour
Modern alt-rock fans will be able to catch Linkin Park, 30 Seconds to Mars, and AFI on tour together late this summer during the trio’s joint Carnivores Tour that launches in August. Linkin Park will be releasing a new album in June, while AFI and 30 Seconds to Mars both dropped albums last year.

Lionel Richie and Cee Lo Green | All the Hits All Night Long Tour
Starting on May 29, Lionel Richie and Cee Lo Green will be continuing Richie's All the Hits All Night Long Tour in North America with over 30 concert dates confirmed through early August. Richie initially launched the tour in Sept. 2013, and now fans will be able to get twice the punch of pop R&B, as Green slated to join all upcoming dates as special guest.

Backstreet Boys and Avril Lavigne | In a World Like This Summer Tour
Celebrating the release of their 2013 albums, the Backstreet Boys and Avril Lavigne have been on the road since early May with a lengthy series of tour dates. The North American performances are expected to extend through late June and will visit many amphitheaters along the way.
