On Nov. 14, the upcoming edition’s first two headliners were announced, confirming performances by the Red Hot Chili Peppers on June 28 and Pink on July 2.
Summerfest to Bring Red Hot Chili Peppers Outdoors During Tour
For the Red Hot Chili Peppers, the Summerfest concert comes at the tail end of a lengthy North American venture that will launch in January. After a five-year absence, RHCP at last dropped a new album, “The Getaway,” back in June, which peaked at No. 1 on the US Top Rock Albums and Top Alternative Albums charts.
With most of the trek taking place during the winter and spring months, the Summerfest appearance marks one of the few opportunities to see the Red Hot Chili Peppers perform outdoors in 2017.
Pink Possibly Set for Big Return in 2017
Similar to RHCP faithful, Pink fans also have been itching for a follow up to her 2012 multi-Platinum-selling smash hit, “The Truth About Love.” An extensive worldwide trek followed from 2013-14, but the singer has been notably absent from the tour circuit since.
While the May release of the single “Just Like Fire” for the “Alice Through the Looking Glass” soundtrack sparked rumors of an impending album from Pink, the singer has yet to confirm any details on the front. Regardless, stay tuned, as it’s likely her Summerfest gig won’t be the only live appearance in 2017.
