Beautiful: The Carole King Musical Tour Announces 2015-16 Dates
A little over a year after picking up two Tony Awards, Beautiful: The Carole King Musical is ready to go out on the road. In Sept. 2015, the first national tour of this biographical jukebox musical will launch at the Providence Performing Arts Center in Rhode Island. The show will remain there from Sept. 15-20, before continuing on to at least six other cities through the end of the year, including Washington, D.C. (Oct. 6-25), Boston (Nov. 3-15), and Chicago (Dec. 1-Feb. 21). As of Aug. 26, the Beautiful tour is also expected to continue on the road through all of next summer. Notable stops along the way will include Philadelphia (March 22-April 3), Atlanta (May 24-29), Dallas (June 7-19), Denver (July 19-31), and San Francisco (Aug. 9-Sept. 18). Simultaneously the Broadway production of the show will remain on stage at New York’s Stephen Sondheim Theatre through next year.
The Beautiful tour will star Abby Mueller in the title role of Carole King. Mueller’s sister, Jessie, originated the role in the Broadway production and won a Tony Award for her efforts. The rest of the touring cast includes Liam Tobin as King’s first husband and songwriting partner, Gerry Goffin, and Becky Gulsvig as fellow songwriter Cynthia Well.
