5SOS Tour
5 Seconds of Summer won’t be setting off on its huge world tour until next May, but the Aussie outfit is already building momentum for its upcoming headlining trek with plenty of live appearances to help promote the quirky rock group in the U.S.
The latest appearance took place on Oct. 2, when the quartet visited the set of The Tonight Show for the first time ever to perform "Good Girls" and take the spotlight during a Jimmy Fallon hashtag segment. Watch 5SOS parody songs from Jay Z, Nelly, Blink 182, and more with fall-inspired lyrics submitted by viewers on Twitter.
In September, 5 Seconds of Summer also made its Good Morning America debut performing the singles “She Looks So Perfect” and “Amnesia” for an intimate studio crowd. The tracks remain two of the biggest hits from the band’s self-titled studio debut, which came out earlier this summer. 5 Seconds of Summer hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in its first week, but the album also was a big success around the world, taking the top slot on charts in Canada, Italy, Spain, and the band’s native Australia, among several other countries.
Before the 5SOS tour touches down in North America next July, the group has a handful of shows booked in the U.S. as 2014 draws to a close. Headlining 5SOS concerts have been scheduled for Phoenix (Nov. 13) and Inglewood, Calif. (Nov. 15-16), and on the same days the band will be playing the L.A. Forum, it will also host its own international fan convention, the affectionately dubbed Derp Con, in the West Coast city.
In December, 5 Seconds of Summer also will return stateside to co-headline the Chicago-area Jingle Bash concert along with Ariana Grande, Pharrell Williams, Rixton, and more. Like the similarly titled Jingle Ball, this arena show is one of many holiday concerts hosted by local radio stations nationwide. Announced on Sept. 29, the Jingle Bash lineup was one of the first of these holiday shows to be revealed, so it remains to be seen whether or not more 5SOS concerts will be on tap for North American fans before the end of the year.
