The most popular love language (and we might argue, the best) is quality time. Whether you are longtime lovers or just started seeing each other, attending a live event is a great and memorable way to spend Valentine’s Day together.
Since Valentine’s Day falls on a Wednesday this year, attending a live event the weekend after is the perfect way to celebrate the occasion. To help you plan the perfect Valentine’s Day date, we’ve gathered a list of the best concerts, sporting events and shows for almost every relationship stage and vibe—including ideas for those riding solo or planning Galentine’s hangs.
For the Newly Dating
Consider planning an outing to a comedy show to help you discover what your new beau finds funny. Plus, laughing together can promote attraction and reduce the stress. Fifty-five percent of Americans agree they feel like a different person when in the heat of the moment at a game or show.
For the #RelationshipGoals Couple
For the couple who have been dating for a while, consider revisiting the venue of the first live event that you attended together. Reminiscing on the sweet, early days of dating can make any evening light-hearted and fun. Plus, you can incorporate special gestures throughout the night that show you *really* know your partner now, like buying your S.O.’s favorite stadium snack.
For the Situationships
Stop looking to see if the stars align and start looking at each other’s sports allegiances by going to an NBA or NHL game together. For some, the heart-pounding moments on the court or rink can overshadow even matters of the heart. Forty-five percent of Americans say a romantic relationship is more likely to last if both partners are fans of the same sports team and 21% of sports fans say they would even break up with a significant other if they refused to root for their favorite team.
For the GNO
Galentine’s Day has become almost synonymous with Valentine’s Day itself—and for good reason. There’s nothing like spending an evening with your closest gal pals chatting and laughing the night away. Dress up and watch the ultimate best friend duo Tina Fey and Amy Poehler take the stage at Beacon Theater in New York City over Valentine’s Day weekend. Not in the Big Apple? Check out a local comedy club near you.
For Yourself
If seeing pink and red has you feeling a bit blue this year, attending a live event just might be the secret to improving your mood on Valentine’s Day. Over 70% of Americans feel happier after attending a live event. Without someone else to consider, you can go to whatever live event you want, when you want to. Like Miley Cyrus says, “I can buy myself flowers,” or in this case, tickets.
