Hamilton Tour
Fans of Lin Manuel-Miranda’s smash hit musical Hamilton have a new reason to look forward to the future. In addition to opening a Chicago production in the fall of 2016, Hamilton is now planning to launch its first national tour in 2017.
The Hamilton national tour will kick off from San Francisco in March of 2017, and it will remain on stage at the city’s Orpheum Theatre for about five months. Later that summer, beginning on Aug. 11, the Hamilton tour will continue to Los Angeles. The Pantages Theatre in Hollywood will host Hamilton through Dec. 30. All other tour dates for the Hamilton musical are still pending as of Jan. 26. A cast list for the tour is also forthcoming.
In the meantime, Hamilton on Broadway will continue its run at the Richard Rodgers Theatre for the foreseeable future. In the Midwest, the Hamilton Chicago run is scheduled to launch at the PrivateBank Theatre (formerly the Bank of America Theatre) on Sept. 27 later this year.
Aladdin National Tour to Launch in Chicago
Another recent Broadway hit, Aladdin, also announced its first national tour is also scheduled to launch in 2017. The stage adaptation of the beloved animated Disney film will kick off in April 2017 with a 12-week run at Chicago’s Cadillac Palace Theatre.
Aladdin the musical is currently stationed on Broadway with an open run at the New Amsterdam Theater. The production has been a big hit in New York, thanks in large part to the Tony-winning performance of James Monroe Iglehart in his role as The Genie.
