Jerry Seinfeld Residency
Following in the footsteps of Billy Joel, New York native comedian Jerry Seinfeld has announced his own headlining residency show in the Big Apple. Beginning in Jan. 2016, Seinfeld will perform at least one night per month at the Beacon Theatre for his new show, which is dubbed Jerry Seinfeld: The Homestand.
As of Dec. 7, Seinfeld has already booked residency performances every month in 2016, except for November. He’ll also perform two times in October. You can find a full schedule of Jerry Seinfeld Beacon Theatre performances for the year at the bottom of the page.
Seinfeld’s 2016 stand-up residency will be the first of its kind for the Madison Square Garden Company, which is also behind Billy Joel’s successful New York residency that began in 2014. Seinfeld is the next logical choice for a New York residency: Like Joel, Seinfeld was born and raised in New York City, and he’s also one of the most beloved performers in his field. His decade-long stint as the lead in the sitcom “Seinfeld” helped cement him as a comedy great. The show’s stand-up interludes also helped introduce his brand of observational comedy to a wider audience.
In a press conference for the new residency, Seinfeld confirmed that the upcoming Beacon Theatre shows will be a greatest hits-type show featuring, as Seinfeld puts it, “the lineup of my best hitters.” Seinfeld hasn’t confirmed which specific bits will make it into the routine, but with four decades’ worth of material to choose from, every performance is sure to be a crowd-pleaser.
Meanwhile, over at Madison Square Garden, Billy Joel’s own residency is still going strong two years after it began. For the year ahead, Joel has scheduled five Madison Square Garden concerts (Jan. 7, Feb. 13, March 15, April 15, and May 27). He’s expected to continue adding dates through the end of the year, but a complete schedule is still pending.
