Tour Announcement
On March 11, legendary jam band Phish officially confirmed dates for its upcoming summer concert tour, set to launch on July 1. The dates not only include one-night performances, but also a number of brief residencies in seven cities. The group used the video below to announce the tour on its website:
Notable venues hosting multiple dates include Chicago’s Northerly Island (July 18-20) and Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Md. (July 26-27). The band also will continue two holiday weekend traditions, performing in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., over Fourth of July weekend (July 3-5), and in Commerce City, Colo., over Labor Day weekend (Aug. 29-31). Phish also will spend two nights headlining at Philadelphia’s Mann Center—a venue it has not performed at since 1995—on July 8-9. The upcoming dates mostly focus on the East Coast, but fans have speculated the group will announce a late summer or fall leg for the West Coast later in the year.
In April, the group has also been booked as part of the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, which extends over two weekends (April 25-27 and May 1-4). Phish will headline on Saturday, April 26, the same day as artists like Robert Plant, Boz Scaggs, Anders Osborne, and The Mavericks, among dozens more.
Fans are still eagerly awaiting the release of the new Phish album, tentatively titled “Wingsuit,” which was previewed at the Halloween 2013 concert in Atlantic City, N.J. The show’s “Phishbill” reportedly stated that the group expects to release the album at some point in 2014, but Phish has yet to release an update about the album. The band previewed 12 songs during the Oct. 31 performance, including new favorites like “Fuego” and “Devotion to a Dream.” Watch a live recording of the song “Wombat” from the live show last fall, including a surprise guest appearance by Abe Vigoda.
