Tim Duncan Jersey Retirement Ticket Prices
On Nov. 16, the San Antonio Spurs announced that their Dec. 18 contest against the New Orleans Pelicans will include a special postgame ceremony in honor of five-time NBA champion, Tim Duncan.
The 19-year veteran will have his No. 21 jersey retired following the game, joining the likes of fellow Spurs greats Johnny Moore (00), Avery Johnson (6), James Silas (13), Sean Elliott (32), George Gervin (44), and David Robinson (50).
Not surprisingly, the announcement quickly made the Pelicans game the most in-demand of the season for the Spurs when competing at home.
In the days prior, median prices for Spurs vs Pelicans had hovered around $100, and were as low as an $87 median price the morning of the news.
The announcement ultimately caused the median price to increase 434% to $465 on Nov. 17. That was roughly 48% higher than the next closest game, a March 29 showdown with the Golden State Warriors, which was the second such matchup between the two rivals that month.
As of Dec. 6, the price of the Spurs/Pelicans game sits at $374. The Spurs' overall median price is $109, which ranks 10th in the NBA. Click here to view the full breakdown on ticket prices across the league.
