Stevie Nicks Sets Dates for Solo Tour with The Pretenders

December 06, 2016 by Amy

Stevie Nicks 2016-17 Tour

As Fleetwood Mac’s break from the touring circuit continues, Stevie Nicks will keep busy via a solo tour during the closing months of 2016. Update (12/5): The tour will now extend into 2017 with a new leg running February-April.

The trek is in support of Nicks' 2014 album, “24 Karat Gold: Songs from the Vault,” which was released just a few months ahead of the launch of Fleetwood Mac’s On With the Show Tour, thus leaving her unable to venture out until now.

In an interview with the New York Times, Nicks had this to say about plotting a tour:

“I just woke up one morning and said I have two years off before Fleetwood Mac comes knocking on my door [for another tour],” she said. “Why would I want to sit around and do nothing?”

“24 Karat Gold” was the eighth solo release for Stevie Nicks, who has been building a discography of her own since “Bella Donna” in 1981. It debuted at No. 7 on the Billboard 200 in Oct. 2014, and included the piano-heavy second single, “Lady.”

Though she’ll be out on the road solo, the Stevie Nicks Tour won’t be without some prominent support, as The Pretenders have been tabbed as the opening act, quickly making this one of the most anticipated concert events of the fall.

The Pretenders have not toured in years, and had not had a release since 2008’s “Break Up the Concrete,” but in conjunction with the announcement, the group revealed that a brand new album, “Alone,” is not only on the way, but will drop on Oct. 21, just days before the tour launch.
