Stone Cold Steve Austin Returns To WWE RAW And Stuns Vince McMahon

January 23, 2018

Monday night marked the 25th anniversary of WWEs Monday Night RAW program. It was a night that made a whole lot of people feel very, very old. Its been twenty five years since The Undertaker faced Damien Demento in the main event on that night. Where has the time gone? (Also, where has Damien Demento gone?)Its been twenty one years since Stone Cold Steve Austin first hit his patented Stone Cold Stunner on Vince McMahon, one of the most shocking and exciting moments in not just wrestling, but television history. It was a landmark moment in the middle of the perfect storm created by the Montreal Screwjob, increased pressure from rival WCW, and a general shift towards an edgier product. Steve Austin became a full-blown superstarnot just in WWE parlance, but in pop culture. In the 90s and early 2000s, you couldnt go anywhere without seeing an Austin 3:16 shirt somewhere. Those same shirts got dusted off on Monday as Austin returned to RAW and confronted his old rival Mr. McMahon. As usual, Stone Cold chugged some Steveweisers, and yes, stunned not just Vince, but his son Shane for good measure:
It was an exciting, newsworthy lead up to this weekends Royal Rumble, which will feature two separate Rumble matches, one for men and one for women. After the announcement of the womens Rumble, Royal Rumble tickets rocketed in popularity in the Philadelphia region.Unfortunately, the Austin return was just a one-off, as years of debilitating injuries make it very unlikely that he could ever have a legitimate match ever again. That said, dont be shocked to see Austin appear at WrestleMania this year as wellI hear theres plenty of beer to be consumed there.
