Hadestown is a Tony-winning musical that reimagines the ancient myth of Orpheus and Eurydice as a soulful, jazz-inflected journey to the underworld. Set to Anaïs Mitchell’s electric score and staged with intimate storytelling, the show follows dreamer Orpheus as he ventures beneath the earth to rescue Eurydice from the industrial realm of Hades and Persephone. Rail cars rumble, workers chant, and the Fates watch as hope, love, and doubt collide. With wry narration by Hermes and a band that sounds like a smoky club, Hadestown asks what we will risk for a song and a return to spring.
